Sector IV Heatmap: Where Is Volatility Priced Richest Right Now?
One symbol at a time isn't the whole picture
OptionScope's Fair Value engine has always shown you IV Rank for whatever symbol is loaded. What it couldn't show you: is this whole corner of the market running hot on volatility right now, or is it just this one name? The new Sector IV Heatmap (Pro) answers that — average IV Rank across every individual stock in the scan universe, grouped by GICS-style sector, sourced from the same real DoltHub volatility history that powers IV Rank everywhere else in the app.
Three ways to look at it
Bold, full-opacity tiles per sector and per name — click a sector to hide it and isolate the rest.
Every name, flat-sorted richest or cheapest first, with a bold horizontal rank bar per symbol.
An interactive scatter plot — sector on the x-axis, IV Rank on the y-axis, color-coded from cheap to rich.
Filters on top of all three: rank-range presets (rich 60+, cheap ≤40, extreme), a symbol search box, and sort direction — all real-time, no reload.
What it's for
Premium sellers use it to find where IV is stretched across a whole sector, not just one ticker — useful before earnings clusters, since related names in a sector often drift together. It's also just a faster way to scan than opening twenty tickers one at a time. Only individual stocks are covered (ETFs are excluded — DoltHub's volatility dataset doesn't track them), and coverage grows as the nightly sync accumulates history for newer symbols.
Find it under the Sector IV tab (Pro). Open the app to try it.
